Bio

Gabrielius Landsbergis served as Lithuania’s minister of foreign affairs from 2020 to 2024, and has been a prominent advocate for Lithuania’s ‘Euro-Atlantic integration’ plus a strong critic of authoritarian regimes, including in Russia and Belarus.

During his tenure as foreign minister, he played a pivotal role in advancing Lithuania’s pro-democracy stance, strengthening ties with NATO and the European Union, backing Ukraine’s defence against Russia, and supporting Taiwan amid tensions with China, a stance that garnered international attention.

Born in 1982, Landsbergis is the grandson of Vytautas Landsbergis, Lithuania’s first head of state after independence from the Soviet Union. He is a graduate of Vilnius University with a degree in political science and international relations, and began his career in Lithuania’s foreign ministry before serving in the European Parliament and becoming a key figure in Lithuanian politics.
