Bio

Anne Applebaum is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, historian, and journalist renowned for her work on authoritarianism, disinformation, and Eastern European history. She studied at Yale, the London School of Economics, and Oxford before reporting on the fall of communism in Warsaw for The Economist. Her books, including Gulag: A History, Iron Curtain, and Autocracy, Inc., explore the mechanics of totalitarian regimes and their modern successors. A staff writer for The Atlantic and senior fellow at Johns Hopkins’ SNF Agora Institute, she is married to Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, and splits her time between Poland, London, and Washington, D.C.
